Olivier Giroud is scoring goals on a more regular basis than Harry Kane this season.

This season has finally seen Tottenham Hotspur talent Harry Kane come into his own. The striker has fended off the likes of Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado to become the undisputed number one striker at Spurs and his form justifies that decision from Mauricio Pochettino.

He has mustered an impressive 20 goals in all competitions this season, including 10 in the Premier League and will hope to add to that tally tomorrow in the North London derby against Arsenal.

Comparatively Arsenal’s lead striker has had a much less eye grabbing campaign so far. Olivier Giroud spent much of it out injured after breaking his foot and has just seven goals in the league this season.

But they have come in much fewer appearances and in fact Giroud is one of the deadliest strikers in the league.

Giroud is in the top ten when it comes to minutes per goal, taking him around 99 minutes to find the net on average. That places Giroud in fifth place, wedged between Chelsea pair Diego Costa and Didier Drogba.

Kane on the other hand is tenth. He takes on average 125 minutes to find the back of the net, placing him behind the likes of Southampton’s Eljero Elia and Leicester City’s Chris Wood. It is still a fantastic record, but statistically you could argue that in the Premier League at least, Giroud has actually been the better striker out of the two.

It will be interesting to see who comes out on top at the weekend.
