Gabby Agbonlahor has told Arsenal to ‘make a statement’ and sign West Ham United midfielder Declan Rice, despite previous claims by Gary Neville.
The former Premier League striker and Arsenal fan Laura Woods were discussing how Gary Neville once claimed that finishing in the top-four is the ‘ceiling’ for Mikel Arteta in north London.
But Agbonlahor thinks, regardless of what happens in the Premier League title race, Arsenal need to stick their chest out and sign Declan Rice during the summer transfer window.

The England international is going to be a sought-after midfielder in the summer – although, Manchester United legend Paul Scholes can’t understand why he is worth £100 million.
If he does leave, then it looks like he will fetch that sort of price because West Ham United manager, David Moyes, claimed that he would be sold for more than the £107 million Chelsea paid for Enzo Fernandez.
What the 24-year-old is worth is up for debate, but he has admirers at PSG, with Marco Verratti calling him a ‘wonderful’ player, prior to England’s trip to Italy last month.
Nonetheless, this was the simple message Agbonlahor had for Arsenal after responding to Gary Neville’s past comments, as he told talkSPORT (12/04/23 at 9:25 am).
“Gary Neville said something along the lines of, ‘if they finish in the top-four, then he might as well leave the job’,” said Woods.
Agbonlahor responded: “That’s their ceiling (he said) – it’s like you said, Arsenal need to go again in the summer with transfers.
“Declan Rice, go and get him. Make a statement.”

ARSENAL PROVING DOUBTERS WRONG
Regardless of what Arsenal achieve this season, one thing is for sure, they are proving their doubters wrong.
It wasn’t so long ago, that Gary Neville was suggesting that Manchester United would finish above the Gunners – they are now 17 points behind.
But with Champions League football returning to the Emirates, then those big marquee signings also need to be added if Arsenal want to add longevity to their game.
