Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to react after the club posted a tweet about Tyrone Mings earlier today, regarding a very impressive statistic.
The Villans revealed that the £20 million man is one of just three Premier League players to record over 100 clearances in England’s top-flight this season.
That is a respectable achievement for the 4-cap England international, although it does carry its concerns as one fan cleverly points out.
Marcus Parry fairly claimed that this could be a misleading statistic, as it suggests the Villans are being bombarded by the opposition too much.
He’s spot on – Mings wouldn’t be able to make as many clearances as he has done if Dean Smith’s side were nullifying the opposition a bit more.

Nevertheless, the rest of the Villa fans below were proud of the 27-year-old’s achievement, and they have every right to be.
Mings has been excellent this season, patrolling the backline alongside Ezri Konsa to help the Midlands-based outfit record 12 clean sheets in 22 Premier League games.
That means Villa can boast the division’s second-best defensive record, behind Manchester City who have kept 14 clean sheets this season.

With Emiliano Martinez behind Mings and Konsa, and the likes of Matty Cash and Matt Targett either side, Smith has built a seriously solid unit.
That much is obvious, as Villa reap the rewards of their rigidness.
Let’s see what the Villa fans on Twitter have been saying about the club’s tweet…
