Arsenal fans believe that they have spotted a clue that Pablo Mari will be starting for them against Villarreal in the Europa League later this evening.

Mari was put up on media duties by Arsenal yesterday alongside Mikel Arteta.

The player who is designated to attend the press conference is usually selected to start the game in question.

And Arsenal fans are pleased that £14 million man Mari (The Sun) looks set to feature this evening.

Arsenal’s record when Mari has played for them is actually very impressive.

The Brazilian has looked very comfortable in the Gunners backline ever since he arrived at the club.

If Mari does start it will be interesting to see who Arteta opts to pick alongside him.

Arsenal have tended to start Rob Holding in recent weeks, but David Luiz is now expected to be fit and available for the contest.

That leaves Arteta with a selection headache ahead of his side’s biggest game of the season.

If Arsenal can progress to the Europa League final and win then this season will surely be looked on as a success, regardless of their Premier League performance.

However, a defeat could spell disaster for the Spanish boss, and would put surely put his job under serious pressure, with the Gunners stuttering so badly domestically.
