Jesse Lingard has been writing in The Player’s Tribune about his time at West Ham, where he shared some interesting things.
What’s the story?
Well, Lingard discusses how Mark Noble helped him become less addicted to social media through the art of conversation, among other topics.
The England international added that Ryan Fredericks used to mess around with him at Rush Green, to the point where he’d become genuinely worried.
Lingard wrote: ‘Freddo — that’s Ryan Fredericks — would just see you come into training and be like, “Pfffft, wow … I can’t believe what you’ve done.”
‘And I’d be like, “What? What have I done?!” He was just scaring me, right?
‘And he’d keep it up all day, until eventually you started breaking down like, “Yo, wait, have I really done something?” And then you realise there’s nothing and he’s just having you on.’
Clearly, those at the London Stadium had no problem with winding the Manchester United forward up.
Lingard added that Noble used to tease him as well, after David Moyes called him his ‘Golden Boy’ in training.
The 28-year-old was always going to receive stick after that!
Should West Ham re-sign Jesse Lingard?
Over the summer, West Ham made attempts to bring Lingard back to east London.
However – as he revealed in The Player’s Tribune – Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was happy with him, and wanted to keep him at Old Trafford.
Unfortunately, Lingard has only played 45 minutes of Premier League football this season across three substitute appearances.
In that respect, we feel West Ham should have another go at trying to sign the Englishman in January.
According to 90min, Lingard is also on Newcastle’s radar after their takeover, so the east Londoners must be prepared to fight off a financial superpower if they truly want the attacker.
In our view, if Lingard becomes available this winter, Moyes would be a fool not to bid for him.
