Tim Sherwood told Soccer Saturday on Sky Sports (20/02/21 at 12:15 pm) that he can watch the ‘genius’ Leeds United boss Marcelo Bielsa in action on the touchline ‘for 90 minutes’.
Whilst Leeds suffered a defeat to Wolves on Friday night, in the overall grand scheme of things, it’s turning out to be a successful season for those in Yorkshire.
A top ten finish could be on the cards if Leeds can get some consistency and even some luck going their way during these final stages of the season.
But whatever does or doesn’t happen, Bielsa has a huge fan in ex-Spurs and Villa boss Sherwood, who shared that he just ‘fascinates’ him.
“He fascinates me,” said Sherwood. “I can watch him for 90 minutes. He fascinates me. I just stare at him thinking ‘what are you going to do next?’ He’s a breath of fresh air.
“He has come up from the Championship. Normally, you get a safe pair of hands, with an English manager who has done it before. Very pragmatic. Bore the fans to death.
“He isn’t doing that. He’s going on the front foot. Let’s get at them. From the first moment they stepped out at Anfield against the champions, they shared seven goals.
“You knew he sent out a message to the players ‘this is how we are going to play and this is what we are going to do’ – you can only congratulate him – this guy is a genius.”

Leeds were a mid-table Championship side when Leeds made their most daring move to bring the highly-regarded Bielsa to Yorkshire.
It was a move that drew the attention of the footballing world and fast forward to today, the majority of those players he first took charge of are now hunting down a top ten finish in the Premier League.
Even if it doesn’t happen this season, added with more experience, squad depth and know-how within the dressing room, this Leeds team could become even more dangerous next season.
