Having rejected a transfer to Liverpool four years ago, Perr Schuurs took a massive gamble.
The Ajax powerhouse could’ve reportedly joined Jurgen Klopp’s squad during the summer of 2018 but the 22-year-old stayed at Ajax.
Considering Liverpool have won a Premier League and Champions League title since then – and reached two finals – you could say that it was quite a risky decision to snub a move to Anfield.
However, Schuurs is absolutely moving in the right direction.
Don’t pay too much notice to the price-tag. What’s significant is who Schuurs might be replacing with the Serie A outfit.
Earlier this summer, Gleison Bremer swapped Turin rivals by joining Juventus in a £40 million deal [Reuters].
Bremer had become one of the most sought-after central defenders of the summer window.

And no doubt that Schuurs will also be using this transfer as a stepping stone toward something major, something bigger than Torino.
Of course, he isn’t guaranteed to follow in Bremer’s footsteps and secure a big-money deal at some point in the future.
But what we do know is that Schuurs is still only 22, confident enough in his ability to reject someone like Liverpool.
Sepp van den Berg wound up also joining the Reds as a teenager a year after the Schuurs opportunity and, unfortunately, he is nowhere near his compatriot’s level.
In snubbing Klopp, Schuurs was able to achieve four years of senior football and who can say where he’ll be in another four?
