Karim Adeyemi has revealed that he’s a big fan of Liverpool attacker Sadio Mane, even if he’s set to join ‘the wrong club’.
Speculation is rife that the Senegal international is on the brink of leaving Liverpool.
It was reported that the 30-year-old has ‘demanded‘ to leave Anfield in a development which stunned the club’s owners, Fenway Sports Group.
At the moment it looks like the former Southampton attacker – a £30 million signing in 2016 – will be joining Bayern Munich, though Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are interested.
Adeyemi was linked with a transfer to Liverpool himself, only to wind up signing for Borussia Dortmund.
And here’s how the young winger reacted to the prospect of him joining their Bundesliga rivals.
He said to Sky Germany: “For me, he is one of the best wingers in the world. I prefer to see him on the outside than in the centre. He would be an asset to the Bundesliga. Unfortunately with the wrong club!”
As Adeyemi alluded to, Mane has been deployed as a number nine for a lot of this calendar year.
It was a brave decision by Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp, but one that ultimately paid off because, well, Mane was arguably the club’s best player since January, despite the positional tweak.
That right there illustrates what a fantastic footballer this man is and no doubt he’ll be a massive miss on Merseyside.
No matter whether he joins Bayern, Real or PSG, at this point his exit seems concrete and time will tell how Liverpool replace him.
One thing we know for sure – it won’t be with Adeyemi.
