If Arsenal still want Josip Brekalo, he may be there for the taking.

The Gunners were linked with signing the Croatia international during the summer window of 2021.

According to Corriere Dello Sport, Mikel Arteta ‘pushed’ Arsenal to go and sign the 24-year-old.

In the end, nothing materialised but, if Arteta is still interested, the Spaniard can finally get is man.

That’s because Fabrizio Romano tweeted on Saturday that Brekalo is set to leave Wolfsburg during the January transfer window.

Here’s what the reliable Italian journalist revealed on Twitter:

As Romano mentioned, negotiations are ongoing with another club but this is where the perk of being a massive team comes along.

Arsenal are substantially bigger than Monza in every facet of being a football club and if Arteta and Edu were ever interested in Brekalo to begin with, hijacking this wouldn’t be a massive problem.

Oh, and it just so happens that the North Londoners still need a winger.

They were linked with signing one this past summer and failed to add anyone.

But with Arsenal top of the Premier League, there’s a real chance for Arteta’s side to do something special this season, providing they take advantage of their situation and strengthen in January.

Time will tell whether they pursue Brekalo again but, if they do, he’s there for the taking.
