Alexandre Lacazette had a truly rotten final season at Arsenal, it has to be said.

Not only did he and his Gunners teammates fail to fire the North Londoners back into the Champions League, but it was a terrible campaign on an individual level, too.

The France international managed 30 Premier League appearances for Arsenal last term and yet only found the net twice from open play.

So when the Emirates Stadium outfit decided to release the veteran hitman, there weren’t many arguments to be made that they were making the wrong decision.

And although that remains the case, with Gabriel Jesus flying since joining Arsenal, Lacazette himself is rediscovering his goalscoring touch away from Mikel Arteta.

On Friday night, he opened the scoring within three minutes of Lyon’s 4-1 victory over Troyes in Ligue 1.

In doing so, the 31-year-old marksman has now scored in all four games he’s played for the French outfit since returning.

Earlier in August, Lacazette, named captain by Peter Bosz this season, also found the net in a 2-1 victory over Ajaccio, having scored in a couple of friendlies against Inter Milan and Feyenoord during the summer.

And yes, those last two are only friendlies, but both of his Ligue 1 goals illustrate that the former Arsenal striker is clearly finding his groove again following a barren few seasons under Arteta at the Emirates.
