Antonio Conte will be keeping an eye on Tottenham Hotspur loanee Joe Rodon throughout the World Cup.

The Spurs manager loaned Rodon to Rennes in Ligue 1 during the summer transfer window, after signing Clement Lenglet on a temporary basis from Barcelona.

But the former Swansea City defender – a £15 million signing in 2020 [Daily Mail] – is impressing in France and there’s a lot of Tottenham supporters who will want to see him back in North London long term.

Rodon enhanced his reputation earlier on Friday with a solid performance for Wales in their World Cup encounter against Iran.

Yes, the Welsh might have lost, but Wales Online have the Tottenham powerhouse – who stands at 6’4 – as the nation’s stand-out player on the day.

The publication labelled him the ‘star man’ and gave him a 6/10, writing: “Found himself 1v1 with Sardar Azmoun too often but gave as good as he got in that battle. Booked for an awful tackle in the first half.”

Time will tell whether Rodon has a long-term future with the Lilywhites.

Clearly Conte is still in need of some convincing but, for the moment, he’s certainly doing all the right things for club and country to ensure he has a future at Hotspur Way.
