Ryan Sessegnon has labelled Tottenham Hotspur loanee Dane Scarlett as a ‘star boy’ on Instagram after he netted a brace for Portsmouth on Saturday.

The 18-year-old has been loaned out to the League One club this season, and after scoring his first senior goal at Port Vale last week, the rising Spurs star is at it again.

This time, his brace secured three more points for Danny Cowley’s men, who are sitting second in the League One table after seven matches.

Added with Scarlett’s brace, he also picked up his first Man of the Match award and he will be hoping there are plenty more to come.

After the game, the goalscoring sensation expressed his delight at his brace, as a number of players praised him in the comments section.

Sessegnon labelled him as a ‘star boy’, whilst his Pompey teammate Marlon Pack said he is a ‘natural’.

Added with that, Bournemouth forward Chris Saydee stated that Scarlett is ‘going crazy’ and Chelsea’s rising star Harvey Vale added that the ‘boy’s on fire’.

FIRST TEAM BECKONING

That’s the long-term aim for Scarlett, but he’s not going to get his wish anytime soon.

Antonio Conte isn’t exactly known to provide youngsters with a chance, he prefers ready-made players and the task he has at Spurs needs those types of players.

Scarlett needs to cook in the colours of Pompey, possibly help them earn promotion, and then be ready to take that next jump up to the Championship.

Luckily for Spurs, they are in no need to rush the player because of the quality of scoring options they have to pick from, so for now, he can continue to take small steps forward.
