What a good football manager Mikel Arteta is proving at Arsenal.
As recently as last season, there were a lot of question marks over the Spanish coach.
This time 12 months ago, the Arsenal boss was on the verge of releasing Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
And given that he was probably the North Londoners’ best goalscorer, well it was a gamble and one that didn’t pay dividends for Arteta’s side, who missed out on Champions League football by a point.
This season, however, it’s totally different.
The Emirates Stadium outfit have a five-point cushion at the top of the Premier League table and may very well wind up winning a first title since 2004.

In contrast, Aubameyang may be set to join his third club since leaving North London – and that, in essence, proves that Arteta was right to move him on.
According to Dean Jones of Give Me Sport, there’s a possibility that the Barcelona-linked hitman could leave Chelsea before the transfer window shuts.
Aubameyang joined the Camp Nou outfit 12 months ago and then went to Stamford Bridge in the summer window.
The fact that he may join another club – excluding Barcelona – now within a year of leaving Arsenal sort of proves Arteta was correct.
Not that the Gabon international is a bad apple, but there is a sense of excess baggage and what a year it has been for the North Londoners since he left.
