Fluminense midfielder Andre Trindade is refusing to let a reported £25 million bid from Premier League giants Liverpool distract him from off-field matters.

Speaking to the media after claims made by ESPN suggested that Liverpool had failed with an opening offer in the region of £25 million, one of the brightest young midfield talents in South America dealt with the speculation like he deals with most things.

With a poise and a maturity far beyond his years.

“It is obvious that it is normal to receive proposals,” Andre Trindade tells Globo Esporte, taking Liverpool’s interest in his stride. “Even more so with the team doing well.

“I am happy about the offers that arrive. But my mind today is focused 100 per cent on Fluminense.”

Andre – who was also the subject of a big-money bid from Fulham earlier this year – has reportedly agreed terms with Liverpool already, despite interest from Manchester United. After missing out on the likes of Romeo Lavia, Moises Caicedo, Mason Mount and seemingly Sofyan Amrabat as well to direct Premier League rivals, it’s just nice to have that winning feeling for once, even if there is still a long way to go in negotiations with Fluminense.

Liverpool bid for Fluminense ace Andre Trindade

“Manchester United went to Andre’s camp to talk about a possible negotiation right now,” Brazilian reporter Emmanuel Luiz tells RedMen TV. “What they said: the player has personal terms agreed with Liverpool. Personal terms already agreed. That’s done.”

“I called some guys that are close to Andre, to the player’s camp. And they said to me; ‘Andre said to Fluminense (that) I want to go to Liverpool, okay? I want to go. I have personal terms agreed’.

“That’s fine, but what Fluminense said is; ‘okay, but we are not going to sell now because of the Copa Libertadores’.”

Fluminense take on Olimpia in the first leg of the Libertadores quarter-finals tonight. In an ideal world, La Fla would prefer to retain Andre’s services until the January window but it remains to be seen if Liverpool are prepared to wait that long, with Wataru Endo the only natural deep-lying midfielder in Jurgen Klopp’s squad.

Liverpool are also keen on Crystal Palace’s Cheick Doucoure and Bayern Munich benchwarmer Ryan Gravenberch
