BBC Sport pundit Stephen Warnock has praised Martin Odegaard for his performance for Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal against Eddie Howe’s Newcastle United at St. James’ Park in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
The former Liverpool defender has said on BBC Sport that he was hugely impressed by Odegaard’s “art” for Arsenal against Newcastle.
Warnock noted midway through the second half how Odegaard was standing still at times and slowing things down.
The BBC Sport pundit was impressed by the former Real Madrid playmaker’s actions and has raved about the attacking midfielder.
Stephen Warnock on Martin Odegaard for Arsenal vs Newcastle United
Warnock said: “Martin Odegaard always has so much time. The best players in the world make time stand still on the football pitch and slow things down. It’s such an art.”

Impressive
In our view, Martin Odegaard is one of the best players in the Premier League and is a key figure at Arsenal.
Newcastle have a very good and physical midfield, but that did not faze Odegaard.
The Norwegian playmaker held his own in the middle of the park and pulled the strings.
Oh, and he also scored for Arsenal in the 14th minute.
Newcastle are not an easy team to win against, especially at St. James’ Park, but Arsenal got the job done in the end.
The win means that the Gunners maintain their pressure on defending champions Manchester City for the Premier League title this season.
