West Ham United played cash-strapped Dagenham and Redbridge in a friendly on Wednesday night.
It seems West Ham are fair game at the moment and even a fan who won a competition to stand-in for manager John Still was sticking the boot in.
David Moyes’ side have been slipping down the Premier League table and are just two points off the relegation zone going into the last eight games of the season.
Southampton, their next opponents in a relegation six-pointer at the London Stadium next weekend, can leapfrog the Hammers with a win and West Ham could give themselves a gap on the bottom three if they manage all three points.
With three weeks off since the 3-0 home defeat to Burnley last time out – a third consecutive loss for the Hammers – Moyes’ side faced National League side Dagenham and Redbridge in a fundraising friendly.
Michail Antonio scored twice and Jordan Hugill got his first goal for the club in a 3-1 win for West Ham.
But stand-in Daggers boss Gary Singh, a fan who won a competition to take charge of his beloved club for the game, didn’t make much of West Ham, singling out two players in particular.
As reported on Sky Sports during the game, estate agent Singh was filmed telling the Dagenham players: “Everytime the ball is there to be won, you’ve won it every single time.
“(Pablo) Zabaleta’s not (what he once was), he’s getting burned everytime, he’s conceding corners. Aaron Cresswell doesn’t even look like he’s playing today.”
After the game Singh did credit the Hammers for sending out a strong side for the friendly match.
“We were unlucky, we fought back. They have done me proud. This is a Premier League side, and they’ve put out a strong side, they’ve got Adrian in goal, Pablo Zabaleta is an Argentinean World Cup player, Patrice Evra how many Champions League and Premier League titles has he won? Antonio normally plays up front for them, it’s a stong team, Mark Noble (in there as well).”
