Stan Collymore has suggested on Twitter why Callum Wilson reportedly decided to snub Aston Villa for Newcastle United.
The former Villa striker has admitted on Twitter his disappointment at the Villans not being able to secure the services of the England international striker from Bournemouth.
As reported by Sky Sports, the Magpies have signed the 28-year-old striker from the Cherries for £20 million.
Villa also wanted to sign the Englishman, but he turned them down, according to the report.
Collymore has suggested on Twitter that Wilson might have thought that Jack Grealish was going to leave Villa this summer, meaning that he would not get too many chances.
Missing out
Villa do need to sign a new striker this summer, as manager Dean Smith cannot rely on just Wesley, who is on the sidelines at the moment with a serious knee injury.
Wilson is a very good striker who knows the Premier League well, and if he is played to his strengths and is given chances by the Newcastle attackers, then he will score a lot of goals.
However, Villa may not miss Wilson that much, as, according to The Guardian, they are on the verge of signing Ollie Watkins from Brentford.
