Stan Collymore has suggested on Twitter that Jose Mourinho could come onto the radar of the likes of Everton, West Ham United or Wolverhampton Wanderers.
Stan Collymore has hinted on Twitter that Everton’s Marco Silva, West Ham boss Manuel Pellegrini and Wolves’ Nuno Espirito Santo will be under additional pressure to live up to expectations this season now that Jose Mourinho has joined Sky Sports as a pundit.
Mourinho is expected to be a regular feature of their coverage while he is awaiting the chance to return to the dugout. He made his debut on Sunday, and Collymore suggested that he could see the Special One using the platform to try and help speed up the process of securing another job in the dugout.
And the pundit warned the managers of the sides aiming to push the top six this season that Mourinho’s presence could be bad news for them if they come under pressure during the coming months…
While Jorge Mendes may have an obvious connection with Mourinho, it would be a big surprise if Wolves had any plans to replace Nuno unless they had a terrible season. Wolves have made significant progress in both of their campaigns under the Portuguese, winning promotion and then securing a spot in Europe in their first season back in the Premier League.
He has arguably earned the right to see how far he can take the club, even if they make one or two steps backwards as they battle in Europe this year.
Both Silva and Pellegrini have been backed in the transfer market this summer after decent seasons last year, so they may have more to prove.
West Ham of course, endured a nightmare start to the season as they were comfortably beaten by Manchester City, while Everton could only draw away at Crystal Palace. It would not be a surprise to see both make drastic improvements in the coming weeks.
But it will be interesting to see, if the Toffees or Hammers do decide to make a change, whether Mourinho is a name that is mentioned by the decision-makers at Goodison Park or the London Stadium.
