Aston Villa have yet to fall foul of Financial Fair Play regulations.

Stan Collymore has reiterated that all clubs, including his beloved Aston Villa, should be punished if they ‘illegally break’ Financial Fair Play rules.
Reacting to Der Spiegel’s recent allegations about Manchester City, Collymore posted on Twitter: “Others clubs in other countries have been stripped of titles and demoted several divisions for less than Der Spiegel are alleging.
“Don’t worry though, they play great football, the press room food is sublime and they pay well, really well.”
But when asked if he would feel so strongly if it was Aston Villa on the receiving end of such claims – of which there is no suggestion – the former Villans striker replied: “People like you must never hand heard me speak or read tweets.
“If Aston Villa or any other football club in England illegally break FFP rules then fines, bans and demotions must follow. Is that ******* clear enough? It’s a sport we’re trying to protect, not any club.”
Aston Villa have been among the Championship’s biggest spenders since being relegated from the Premier League in 2016.
As a result of that – not to mention continued reduction of the club’s annual parachute payments – the Midlands giants were forced to tighten their purse-strings in the recent transfer window.
And they could be set for another season outside of the top flight, having started the new campaign slower than expected.
Aston Villa currently sit 14th in the standings, five points adrift of the play-off positions.
