Former Liverpool striker turned football pundit Stan Collymore said in his column for The Sunday People that Everton should make an ambitious move for Carlo Ancelotti.

Everton manager Ronald Koeman is under pressure after a poor start to the season, and Collymore believes that the Toffees should keep replacements lined up already.

Collymore says that Everton need to spend “a hell lot of money”, and at the same time they need a clear and cohesive plan.

In that context, Collymore said that he would want to see Everton making an ambitious move for Carlo Ancelotti, who recently lost his job at Bayern Munich.

Ancelotti is a world class manager, who has won three Champions League titles in his career, and has won league titles with AC Milan, Chelsea, PSG, and Bayern Munich.

Collymore says that Bill Kenwright and Farhad Moshiri should find out what sort of money could tempt Ancelotti to think about considering the Everton job.

The former Aston Villa player adds that Ancelotti is the kind of manager who with the right backing can take Everton to a new heights.

“There’s talk of the former AC Milan, Chelsea, Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid boss going to China for a big payday now his Bundesliga adventure is over,” wrote Collymore for The Sunday People (printed edition; October 15th – page 51).

“But Bill Kenwright and Farhad Moshiri should be finding out what sort of money is on offer over there and match it… then throw in the kitchen sink.

“I’d be saying, ‘Carlo, whatever it takes we’ll give you, we want you here for three or four years, come and get your mojo back and grow a project. You have the cache, experience and contacts in the game to take our club forward’.”

“If he said ‘Yes’, I’d be pulling the trigger on Koeman now. Ancelotti is the sort of manager who, with the right backing, could get Everton into the Europa League twice and Champions League once in the next three or four years – and even win an FA Cup or League Cup.”
