Aston Villa sacked Tim Sherwood yesterday after a defeat to Swansea City.
Stan Collymore has told TalkSPORT, during his ‘Call Collymore’ programme yesterday (25th October 2015) afternoon, that David Moyes would be his first choice to take over at Aston Villa.
Villa parted ways with Tim Sherwood after a defeat to Swansea City in their latest fixture, and they are currently on the look out for a new manager, who could get them out of trouble.
Collymore feels that their best option would be to go out and get David Moyes, who is currently in charge at Real Sociedad.
“My personal preference is if Aston Villa could go for any manager, that is currently employed or unemployed, that I feel that they went in with a bold offer and could get, it would be David Moyes,” he said.
At the moment, the bookies’ favourite to land the Villa job is French boss Remy Garde.
Garde has a good record in Ligue 1, but Collymore has warned that his appointment would be a huge risk, for a club in so much trouble.
“Remi Garde is as much as a gamble as Tim Sherwood because he’s coming to a different league, with different players and Villa are bottom of the league,” he added.
Villa are currently winless in nine Premier League matches, having collapsed since an opening day win against Bournemouth.
Their poor form has left them four points away from safety, and the new manager will need to hit the ground running, if he is to stop the Claret and Blues from getting cut adrift in the relegation zone.
