Stan Collymore urges Everton to appoint Carlo Ancelotti by Wednesday

Everton’s search for their new manager continues, eight days after parting company with Ronald Koeman.

Stan Collymore has told the Daily Mirror that Everton should appoint Carlo Ancelotti as their new manager and should look to make an appointment by Wednesday for the sake of their season.

The Toffees are still without a manager eight days after sacking Ronald Koeman in the wake of their poor start to the Premier League season which culminated for the Dutchman in a 5-2 defeat at home to Arsenal.

David Unsworth has taken temporary charge of the side, while Sky Sports reports that an approach for Burnley boss Sean Dyche is imminent, and Sky Bet list Sam Allardyce, Chris Coleman and Marco Silva among the other contenders.

But Collymore has advised the Toffees to go out and get Ancelotti – currently listed as a 22/1 outsider on Sky Bet – following his recent exit from Bayern Munich, and has insisted that they should look to get him in the Goodison Park hot-seat by tomorrow.

“You don’t want to be getting into a situation where the mood among the fans becomes so bad that every misplaced pass is greeted with discontent and the lack of goals leads to a bad crisis of confidence in the dressing room,” he told the Mirror.

“For me it’s simple. Whoever they have lined up, get them in place tomorrow, Wednesday, ASAP.

“They need to make the decision now and, as I have said for a few weeks, it should be Carlo Ancelotti.”

Of course, it appears that the chances of Everton being able to make such a notable appointment at such short notice are slim at best – but many fans will undoubtedly agree with Collymore that getting the new man in as quickly as possible should be a target for the club as they currently find themselves in the relegation zone in the Premier League and do not want to make the opportunity look less appealing to their managerial targets.
