Cody Gakpo has been told that Manchester United would be a ‘better fit’ for him than Liverpool.
According to ESPN earlier in November, Liverpool have joined the Red Devils among others in the race to sign the Netherlands international.
Gakpo is rapidly becoming an even bigger star after scoring in both of his country’s World Cup games thus far, including a cracker against Ecuador on Friday evening.

And Stan Collymore believes that Manchester United – or even Arsenal – would make more sense for Gakpo than joining Liverpool, who already have similar players.

He told Caught Offside: “I wouldn’t say Liverpool on the basis that Luis Diaz and Fabio Carvalho both come from the left which is where Cody Gakpo often pops up,” Collymore said in an exclusive interview.
“Plus, Liverpool also have Darwin Nunez, who operates down the centre. I really like him but I could see him being a better fit at Man United or Arsenal.”
Cody Gakpo to Manchester United
Well with Erik ten Hag being a Dutchman himself and being a wonderful manager, you have to say that the Old Trafford outfit – if they are interested – represent a genuine threat to Liverpool.
Rejecting Jurgen Klopp and Anfield has been a near-impossible task for any player down the years, but it is perhaps a little easier now because not only are the Reds struggling in the Premier League, but there’s uncertainty behind the scenes following news of Julian Ward’s departure at the end of the season.
You could argue that life at Manchester United represents a little bit more stability at this moment in time.
