Stan Collymore thinks that Wolverhampton Wanderers manager Nuno is the man for Chelsea, not Derby County boss Frank Lampard.
Chelsea are on the hunt for a new manager following the departure of Maurizio Sarri.
According to The Guardian, the Blues will make an approach to Derby for their manager Lampard.
Lampard is a Chelsea legend, and the former England international midfielder guided the Rams to the Championship playoff final this past season.
Former Villa striker Collymore has suggested that Chelsea should appoint Wolves boss Nuno as their new manager, not Lampard.
Collymore wrote in The Sunday People (print edition, page 59, June 16, 2019): “Nuno is affable, he has managed big clubs in Valencia and Porto, has Champions League experience after his time with the latter, and he knows what the expectations are in England, and he’s fluent in the language.
“He has a good style of play and has recruited well at Wolves – established stars such as Joao Moutinho and Rui Patricio wanted to play for him, as well as promising younger rich as Ruben Neves.”
Perfect for Chelsea?
Nuno is one of the best managers in the Premier League, and what the Portuguese has done at Wolves over the past two seasons has been superb.
The former Valencia boss would indeed be a very good managerial appointment for Chelsea, but he may not be willing to leave Wolves at this moment in time.
Wolves have a long and ambitious project, and Nuno will know that he can do something really great and build a legacy at the Wanderers.
