Could Jurgen Klopp do with Mamadou Sakho at Liverpool what Pep Guardiola did with Yaya Toure at Manchester City?

Stan Collymore has suggested on Boylesports.com that Mamadou Sakho still has a future at Liverpool.

Sakho is struggling for playing time at Liverpool at the moment and does not appear to be in manager Jurgen Klopp’s plans.

Klopp was recently quoted as saying by The Independent that the 26-year-old France international defender could be sold in the January transfer window.

Former Liverpool striker Collymore has suggested that the centre-back could still have a future at Anfield.

The former England international made the claim following the Reds’ stunning defeat to Bournemouth away from home in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.

The Merseyside outfit were 2-0 up at one stage, but they lost 4-3 in the end at the Vitality Stadium.

Collymore believes that Klopp could bring back Sakho just like Yaya Toure was brought back into the first-team fold at Manchester City.

Toure struggled for playing time in the opening weeks and months of the season at City, but the midfielder is now back for the Citizens.

“As for the central defensive two, I just wonder if Jurgen may be thinking of not yet getting rid of Sakho you know,” Collymore wrote on Boylesports.com.

“Great ball player he may not be but he’s one of the top two or three in box reactive defenders in the league and again, maybe if he were on duty today, his leadership and ‘ye shall not pass’ attitude may have made a difference.

“Watch this space, as if Yaya can be brought back to redemption, I’m sure Sakho can.”

Liverpool are third in the Premier League table at the moment with 30 points from 14 matches.
