Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli has been linked with Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Former Liverpool striker Stan Collymore has suggested in The Mirror that Dele Alli should leave Tottenham Hotspur if he has the chance to play for a big club in mainland Europe.
Collymore believes that if Alli gets the chance to play for Real Madrid, Barcelona or Bayern Munich, then he should take it.
“Let me be very clear about this: I want the best English players to play in England,” Collymore wrote in The Mirror. “But I also want our best players to go and learn from the very best in the world.
“And if that means Dele Alli going and playing for Bayern Munich, Real Madrid or Barcelona in the next two or three years, then I’d gladly swing by his house and drive him to whichever city he fancies.”
“Don’t get me wrong, I’d love for his education to be completed at Spurs, if they are cutting a swathe through European competitions,” added Collymore.
“But, if, two years from today, they aren’t making a dent in the Champions League and aren’t buying the sort of players who can help him achieve his aims, then I would genuinely look at going abroad. He could play for Bayern, Barca or Real tomorrow, and they would hone his skills.”
According to a recent report in The Mirror, Spanish giants Madrid and Barcelona are interested in signing Alli from Tottenham.
Given the current transfer ban on Madrid, Zinedine Zidane’s side would not be able to bring in any players in the January transfer window.
Moreover, it is hugely unlikely that Spurs would be open to entertaining any offers for a key player such as Alli in the middle.
But could the England international midfielder leave Tottenham at the end of the season?
Tottenham fans will certainly not want to lose the 20-year-old, who is one of the best young players in the Premier League.
Alli has established himself as a key player in Mauricio Pochettino’s team and is playing well at the moment.
