Former Aston Villa and Nottingham Forest striker Stan Collymore sent a message to the attacking midfielder on Twitter.

Stan Collymore appears to have given Aston Villa’s reported interest in Joe Lolley his backing as he sent the Nottingham Forest attacking midfielder a cheeky message on Twitter.

Dean Smith’s men are beginning their preparations for life back in the Premier League after winning the Championship play-off final against Derby at Wembley on Monday.

Birmingham Live has claimed this week that one of the signings that Smith hopes to make this summer is that of Lolley, with a £10 million bid being prepared for the Forest star.

Lolley enjoyed an outstanding season at the City Ground, scoring 11 goals and contributing 11 assists. One of those goals and four of those assists came in the incredible 5-5 draw with Villa at Villa Park back in November.

It would be no surprise if Forest wanted a lot more than Villa are reportedly set to offer for one of their key men, but Lolley may well be interested in making the switch, with his boyhood club able to now offer him a chance at the highest level.

And Collymore has dropped a clear hint that he would like to see Lolley make the switch this summer – though his message definitely did not go down too well with the Forest fans.
