Everton striker Romelu Lukaku has been in mixed form for Belgium at the Euro 2016 finals in France so far.
Former Liverpool and Aston Villa striker Stan Collymore has written on Boylesports.com that Everton star Romelu Lukaku epitomises the Belgium national team at the moment.
Belgium have a truly talented squad, but their performances at the ongoing European Championship in France have been mixed.
Marc Wilmots’s side’s performance in their opening Group E game against Italy was disappointing, and they lost 2-0.
The Red Devils did step up their game in their next match, getting the better of the Republic of Ireland 3-0 with ease.
Everton striker Lukaku struggled against Italy, but he scored twice against the Republic of Ireland.
“Romelu Lukaku epitomises the Belgium national team at the moment,” Collymore wrote on Boylesports.com.
“He looks moody, brooding and as a man that looks as if he’s not particularly enjoying being around a few big names, dare I say big time Charlies in their camp, but as I pointed out pre tournament, if they click, he will benefit and the two superbly taken goals proved that with bells on!”
Lukaku has scored two goals and created one chance in two matches for Belgium at the ongoing Euro 2016 finals in France so far.
The Everton striker has a pass accuracy of 81% and a shot accuracy of 75%, and has won two headers.
During the 2015-16 season, the former Chelsea striker scored 18 goals and created 51 chances in 37 Premier League matches for Everton.
Lukaku is a good striker, and Belgium fans should be optimistic that the 23-year-old will score a few more goals at the 2016 European Championship.
