Former Aston Villa striker and current pundit Stan Collymore has taken to Twitter to discuss the possibility of Steve Bruce becoming the club’s new manager.
After just one win in 11 Championship games, Roberto Di Matteo was sacked on Monday morning following a 2-0 away defeat to Preston North End – and the attention is now firmly on finding a replacement.

Given that Di Matteo lasted just 124 days in the job, owner Tony Xia will be praying that he finds a manager who can not only last longer than Di Matteo, but also push the club back up the Championship table.

The 55-year-old has the credentials to take the job, but his history of playing for and managing Villa’s biggest rivals Birmingham City has been a major concern for supporters over the last few days.

As Villa look to get a new manager in before next weekend’s clash with Wolverhampton Wanderers, former Villa striker, current pundit and fan of the club Stan Collymore has taken to Twitter to discuss a move for Bruce.
Collymore believes that Bruce is a proven manager at this level, and has a host of quality signings to work with – but thinks that three defeats will lead to fans criticising him given his history with Birmingham City.
