Stan Collymore has suggested that Steve Bruce should be sacked as Aston Villa boss after their defeat against Burton Albion in the Carabao Cup last night.

Villa put in an awful showing at the Pirelli Stadium, as they were beaten by their lower league opponents.

The claret and blues failed to ever get going in the contest, with Albert Adomah missing a last minute penalty which could have taken the game to spot kicks.

Bruce, himself, admitted after the game that Villa’s performance had been ‘embarrassing’ and strongly criticised his players.

But Collymore has had enough of Bruce’s leadership at Villa and wants the experienced boss to be replaced.

A popular name among Villa fans to takeover from Bruce, if he does go, is Dean Smith – but Collymore has his doubts over appointing the Brentford boss.

Villa almost parted company with Bruce over the summer, and there is no doubting that he is under pressure to turn things around quickly, as some of the Midlands side’s performances this season have been rather uninspiring.
