Aston Villa won 5-0 against Bristol City in the Championship clash on Monday.

Aston Villa started the new year on a high after beating Bristol City 5-0 in the Championship clash at Villa Park on Monday.
With that victory, Steve Bruce’s side have moved to fifth in the Championship table, and are firmly back in the promotion race.
Bruce lamented before the match about missing nine first team players through injuries but back to back victories will light up the mood at the Villa camp.

Following a poor spell in the month of December when Villa failed to win a single match, it was crucial for them to keep pace with other contenders. It seems they have found their mojo back with two important wins in the busy festive period.
Scott Hogan opened the scoring in the 23rd minute. Robert Snodgrass before and after the break to make it 3-0. Birkir Bjarnason and Conor Hourihane also got their name on the scoresheet to make it a memorable win for the home side.

Former Aston Villa player turned football pundit Stan Collymore has taken to social networking site Twitter to express his reaction. He tweeted:
