Stan Collymore has suggested on Twitter that nobody should be ridiculing Sunderland for their relegation.

Sunderland were humiliated, after their defeat to Burton Albion confirmed that they would be playing League One football next season.

However, Collymore was not to join in the hoards of football fans on social media poking fun at Sunderland.

Instead the former Nottingham Forest striker suggested that he was very sympathetic towards the Black Cats’ plight, and took a dig at owner Ellis Short.

“Sunderland. What an awful tale of p*** poor ownership, reckless decision making, and people welcomed at our great football clubs with no understanding of the sport whatsoever,” he wrote on Twitter.

“Disgusting. Don’t gloat, may be your club some day.”

Sunderland’s relegation could hardly have been picked up in any harsher circumstances.

Chris Coleman’s side had looked likely to pick up the three points in the contest, and led for a large period.

However, late goals from Darren Bent and Liam Boyce turned the match on its head and condemned Sunderland to their second relegation in as many years.
