Nottingham Forest allowed Britt Assombalonga to join Middlesbrough yesterday.

Stan Collymore has suggested that Nottingham Forest have got a great deal by selling Britt Assombalonga to Middlesbrough.

Boro bought Assombalonga from Forest for a fee said to be worth around £15 million by the Daily Mirror.

And Collymore feels that Forest fans shouldn’t be upset about losing their main striker, providing that money gets reinvested in the squad.

Assombalonga scored 14 times for Forest last term, and is regarded as one of the best finishers in the Championship.

Replacing the powerful forward will be a tough ask for Mark Warburton, but he should have plenty of money to spend now.

Assombalonga has become one of the most expensive Championship players of all time, and will be expected to fire Boro to promotion.

Forest already have Jason Cummings, Zach Clough and Ben Brereton competing for a striking place – but are expected to bring in another forward to cover for the loss of Assombalonga, before the close of the transfer window.
