Aston Villa signed the 29-year-old from Hull this week.

Stan Collymore has given his seal of approval for Aston Villa’s capture of Ahmed Elmohamady.

The 29-year-old left Hull City to join Aston Villa in a £1 million deal on Wednesday, according to The Sun.

Elmohamady, who has previously worked with Steve Bruce at Hull and Sunderland, is the Villans’ third signing of the summer so far, following John Terry and Sam Johnstone.

And club legend Collymore seems delighted with the deal.

Elmohamady is a good player but Bruce will need more attacking quantities if Aston Villa are to challenge for Premier League promotion next season.

The West Midlands outfit finished 13th in the Championship last season and although that was not all down to Bruce – who only replaced Roberto Di Matteo in October – the signs could be brighter for their Premier League prospects.

Still, the veteran manager has four promotions under his belt – two with Birmingham City and two with Hull – so Villa are in very good hands.
