Stan Collymore showers praise on Everton’s new boy Gylfi Sigurdsson.

Former Liverpool striker and now-turned football pundit Stan Collymore has showered praise on Everton’s record signing, Gylfi Sigurdsson.

The 27-year-old became Everton’s record signing when he completed his £45 million move from Swansea last week.

The Iceland international joined Swansea City in 2014, and has been a key player for them. Last season, he scored nine Premier League goals for the Welsh outfit, and provided as many as 13 assists.

Collymore says that Sigurdsson is one of his “favourite Premier League players” and a “very important piece” in Ronald Koeman’s Everton jigsaw.

“Gylfi Sigurdsson is one of my favourite Premier League players and a very important piece in Ronald Koeman’s Everton jigsaw,” wrote Collymore in his column for The Sunday People (printed edition; press reader).

Everton have bolstered several areas of the pitch and have used the money from Romelu Lukaku’s departure to Manchester United, effectively.

Despite adding Wayne Rooney and Sandro Rodriguez, the Everton boss is still looking to sign a top striker before the transfer window closes.

Collymore adds that Everton’s final piece won’t arrive until a stellar signing is done – a striker who can score 25 goals in a season for them.

“But the final piece won’t arrive until the Dutchman makes a stellar signing – a striker who will get him 25 goals in the top flight each season,” he added.

Everton are reportedly interested in signing Fiorentina striker Nikola Kalinic, but face competition from AC Milan.
