Tottenham Hotspur face Liverpool in the Premier League this weekend.

Former player and current pundit Stan Collymore has told Boyle Sports that both Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool will fail to finish in the top four if their opening two performances are anything to go by.

Spurs have started the season with four points from a possible six and head into the encounter against Liverpool on Saturday afternoon on the back of a 1-0 win against Crystal Palace at home following a 1-1 draw at Everton.

Liverpool, in contrast, started the campaign with a superb 4-3 win at Arsenal, but followed that up with a 2-0 defeat at Burnley, leaving many to question their defensive capabilites.

Both clubs will look to finish in the top four this season, but Collymore believes they could be in for a struggle as he tips Spurs to edge their upcoming encounter at White Hart Lane 2-1.

“I’ve been a little bit underwhelmed by both teams’ start to the season. I don’t think either, if they continue to play the way they are, will get in to the top four this season,” Collymore told BoyleSports.

“I like Vincent Janssen, I think he’s a good option other than Harry Kane but I’m not sure they (Tottenham) have the attacking resources they should have at this stage of the season.

“I’m going to go for Spurs to win by the odd goal. 2-1, Harry Kane to open his account.”

Tottenham are quite renowned for being slow starters, therefore victory over Liverpool on Saturday would represent a fine start for the North London club regardless of performances.

The Reds hold a decent recent record over Mauricio Pochettino’s men and are undefeated on their last three visits to White Hart Lane, winning two of those by 3-0 and 5-0 scorelines.
