The in-form Arsenal forward has netted five Premier League goals this season.

Stan Collymore has told Boyle Sports that he expects Theo Walcott’s excellent goalscoring form for Arsenal to end shortly.

The 27-year-old put a disappointing couple of weeks with England behind him to score twice in Arsenal’s 3-2 win over Swansea City on Saturday afternoon.

In doing so, the ex-Southampton youth brought his haul for the season to seven in nine games, which is remarkable given how out of sorts he looked for the Gunners last season.

Walcott netted nine times from 42 appearances in all competitions last season, but he certainly seems determined to right those wrongs this time around.

If he can maintain this red-hot form for much of the campaign then it could go a long way to helping the North Londoners win a first Premier League title since 2004, but Collymore is not convinced that Walcott will sustain such a high standard until May.

“Theo won’t continue the form he’s in,” he wrote in Boyle Sports.

“The lad is one of the nicest men you could meet, speaks well and I’m a huge fan of his but unless he can answer his own personal questions and continue this form until the end, that’s a fair chunk of goals and incision he’s providing at the moment that will disappear, can you do it Theo? Can you?”

Arsenal are second in the Premier League table, behind Manchester City on goal difference. So far so good for the Gunners all things considered, but there is a long, long way to go before they can even dream of ending their 12-year title drought.
