Stan Collymore has claimed on Twitter that Kieran Trippier is Tottenham Hotspur’s best full-back.

The former right-back joined Tottenham in 2015 but the former Burnley man has only started 11 Premier League matches since arriving in North London.

He has found himself playing second fiddle to Kyle Walker over the past two seasons, but the 27-year-old has been linked with a £60 million move (via The Mirror) to Manchester City in recent weeks.

Likewise, Lilywhites left-back Danny Rose, who has been injured since February, is linked with a move to Manchester United (via The MEN) as Tottenham prepare for a fight to keep their first-choice full-backs this summer.

Nevertheless, Collymore feels Trippier is the best full-back that Mauricio Pochettino has in his squad.

Speaking about Walker and Rose, Collymore said on Twitter: “Two crucial players in the way that Spurs play, giving them width from the full-back positions.

“Of course they have got some good options, particularly Kieran Trippier and I got a lot of stick for saying I thought he was actually the best full-back Spurs have. Very good crosser of the ball.”

Trippier, 26, is a very talented right-back, but better than Walker? It’s certainly a bold claim by the ex-Premier League striker, but that does that mean it’s true.

Walker is a superb player and Tottenham might realise how good he actually is if Pochettino elects to promote Trippier rather than replace him with another top right-back.
