Stan Collymore has spoken highly of Aston Villa forward Wesley Moraes in The Mirror.
Wesley has joined Villa from Club Brugge in the summer transfer window for a fee reported by Sky Sports to be worth £22 million.
Former Villa striker believes that the 22-year-old will prove to be a good signing for Dean Smith’s side, and has predicted that the Brazilian will excite fans.
Collymore wrote in The Mirror: Villa needed a huge rebuild and I think new club-record £22m Brazilian striker Wesley Moraes will excite fans. He has a great first touch and turns and moves the ball off the line very well.
Good signing for Aston Villa?
Wesley is a very good and promising young forward who can be a long-term success at Villa.
It could take the 22-year-old a while to get used to the rigours of the Premier League and to develop an understanding with his teammates at Villa.
According to Sky Sports, Wesley scored 17 goals for Club Brugge this past season.
Villa will kick off their 2019-20 Premier League campaign with a game against Tottenham Hotspur this coming weekend.
Praise for Tyrone Mings
Meanwhile, former Vila defender Joleon Lescott has suggested that the Villans did well to secure the services of Tyrone Mings on a permanent contract from Bournemouth in the summer transfer window.
The Birmingham Mail quotes Lescott as saying about Mings: “I think they’ve done good business. The fact they kept Mings, he was vital to their promotion last season.
“He looks good, looks ready to step up and make the grade that we all thought was going to happen when he went to Bournemouth.
“I don’t think it’s a lack of quality, I think the timing of the injuries, but he’s proved his fitness. There’s an opportunity to get into the England set-up so I’m sure he’s pushing for that as well.”
