Tottenham Hotspur face the current Premier League leaders Chelsea at White Hart Lane on Wednesday.

Stan Collymore has told the Daily Mirror that he expects Tottenham Hotspur to end Chelsea’s winning run when they meet on Wednesday, and suggested that they could well win the game at White Hart Lane.

The Blues go into the fixture with Mauricio Pochettino’s men having put together a sensational run that has seen them move well clear at the top of the Premier League table. Antonio Conte’s men have won their last 13 games to sit five points clear at the summit.

And Collymore has suggested that just three Tottenham players would be capable of strengthening the leaders’ squad further.

“Man for man, only two of their players — Hugo Lloris ahead of Thibaut Courtois and Toby Alderweireld/Jan Vertonghen over Gary Cahill, which shouldn’t be seen as a slight on the Blues’ England defender — would get into the Chelsea team. And that’s not good enough if they want to be seen as genuine challengers,” he told the Mirror.

Despite the retired striker’s claim about the respective squads, Spurs go into the clash in good form having won their last four games, beating both Southampton and Watford 4-1 in their two most recent fixtures.

And even though Collymore clearly thinks Chelsea’s squad is stronger, he believes that Tottenham will be the team to at least end Chelsea’s run of victories, and suggested that they have the potential to hand the Blues their first league defeat since September.

“While I’m not saying they are definitely going to win, I wouldn’t be at all surprised if Spurs did take all three points,” he added.

“I certainly think they will get at least a draw to stop Chelsea’s streak.”

Despite Chelsea’s excellent run, Tottenham’s form coupled with the fact that they have home advantage suggests that it is an extremely difficult game to call, so it perhaps would not be the biggest surprise if Collymore’s prediction comes to fruition.
