Aston Villa have won one, lost one and drawn one in the Championship so far.
Stan Collymore has said on Facebook that he would settle for a top-six finish in the Championship if Aston Villa were offered it now, after three games.
Aston Villa have taken four points from a possible nine in what has been a mixed start to life under Roberto Di Matteo in England’s second tier.
Di Matteo’s side lost 1-0 at Sheffield Wednesday on the opening weekend, before bouncing back by demolishing Rotherham United 3-0 at Villa Park.
The Villans could and probably should have followed that up with another win, but a late error from goalkeeper Pierluigi Gollini gifted Huddersfield Town a 1-1 draw at Villa Park on Tuesday in a game which saw striker Ross McCormack get on the scoresheet.
It was the 29-year-old’s first goal for Aston Villa following an £12 million summer move from Fulham, and Collymore, who spent three years at the West Midlands club, is very happy with striker’s arrival – and defender Tommy Elphick.
Speaking to a Stadium Astro Facebook Q & A session, the 45-year-old said: “I’m very happy with Tommy. I’m very happy with Ross.”
Then asked about promotion, Collymore responded: “I would take top six. Top six all day long.”
