Everton currently have one of the oldest squads in the Premier League.
Stan Collymore has told the Daily Mirror that Everton’s future spine should involve Brendan Galloway, Idrissa Gueye, James McCarthy and Romelu Lukaku.
Everton have an ageing squad, but Collymore still believes there are players at Goodison Park who are capable of representing the Merseyside club for the next four years.
He said: “In Brendan Galloway (currently on loan at West Brom), Gueye, James McCarthy and Romelu Lukaku, he has a good spine.
“He has a good keeper, and he has top prospects like Mason Holgate coming through.
“And, of course, there’s Ross Barkley, who needs to show he has the football intelligence to produce all season, not just here and there.”
Everton will have to replace many of their more experienced players over the coming years, with the likes of Leighton Baines, Gareth Barry and Phil Jagielka all ageing.
The Toffees do have more financial power now than ever before though, following the takeover for Farhad Moshiri.
Everton are expected to invest heavily in their squad over the coming years, as Koeman looks to develop his side.
