The young Villans face Arsenal in an Under-21 clash.
Former Aston Villa striker Stan Collymore has tweeted his support to the club’s youngsters for tonight’s Under-21 clash with Arsenal.
The young Villans take on their North London counterparts at the Emirates tonight in a division two playoff knowing that victory would clinch promotion.
The Gunners reached the final by beating Blackburn Rovers, while Villa managed a victory over Swansea City to reach the showpiece.
Not only do the Arsenal boys have home-field advantage, but Villa’s youngsters will also come up against a fit-again Santi Cazorla in a red shirt.
The Spaniard, recently back from a lengthy injury layoff, is one of the Arsenal first team’s strongest and most influential players, meaning that Kevin MacDonald’s side have it all to do tonight.
In addition to Cazorla, the hosts also have first-team regulars Calum Chambers, Francis Coquelin and Joel Campbell in their first XI, while only captain Jordan Lyden and Rushian Hepburn-Murphy have a proper taste of senior experience for the visitors.
Kickoff is scheduled for 7pm.
