Stan Collymore has claimed on Twitter that Jacob Ramsey could have been ‘cleverer’ in his body language during Aston Villa’s 1-0 FA Cup defeat to Manchester United on Monday night.

Steven Gerrard will be waking up this morning thinking how on earth his players managed to leave Old Trafford empty-handed.

Manchester United opened the scoring early in the first half through Scott McTominay, but the away side were dominant, thereafter.

When Danny Ings thought he had equalised just after the break, VAR took over three minutes to overturn the goal.

It was suggested that Ramsey came from an offside position to block Edinson Cavani from challenging the initial cross from John McGinn that led to the goal.

There was a lot of confusion about the ‘clear and obvious’ decision that was made last night, with VAR checking for offside on Ings, Ollie Watkins, possible handballs and even going back to the 1957 FA Cup final played between both teams.

Even though Ramsey stood still when Cavani ran inside the box, Collymore still controversially felt that he could have been a lot more clever with his body movement, as he explained what VAR were thinking in ruling out the goal.

For Villa, it won’t be too long before they are locking horns with Manchester United again because both teams meet on Saturday evening.

This time they will face off at Villa Park and the away side will come up against a very hostile atmosphere.

Those in Claret and Blue will feel aggrieved with what happened last night and they will want to take it all out at the weekend.

A crucial three points are at stake and there could even be the possibility that a certain Philippe Coutinho makes his debut for Villa.
