Former player and current pundit Stan Collymore has taken to social networking site Twitter in order to warn Manchester City supporters not to get too excited over their start to the season.
Amid Pep Guardiola’s arrival as new City boss during the summer, supporters could have been forgiven for getting carried away and expecting the side to suddenly start playing super football.
So far Guardiola’s start to life as City boss has been straightforward – eight games in all competitions, eight victories and following their 4-0 win over Bournemouth they now hold a five-point lead at the top of the Premier League table.

But Collymore warns via Twitter that City experienced a similar start to the campaign last season, and adds supporters should hold off from gloating about their current position so early in to the season.
City won their first five league matches last season without conceding a goal, and under Guardiola they have posted a similar record with their latest 4-0 win over Bournemouth extremely professional.

Players such as Raheem Sterling, Kevin De Bruyne and Fernandinho already appear to be playing at a higher level to last season, and there are still key players to return from injury.
Next up for City is a trip to Swansea City in the League Cup in midweek before facing the Welsh side again at the Liberty Stadium in the Premier League next weekend.
