The former Crystal Palace striker has not taken well to the Dutchman’s post.

Stan Collymore has set about bringing Crystal Palace’s Patrick van Aanholt down a peg in his weekly Daily Mirror column (May 1st, page 47).
Van Aanholt asked his Twitter followers to ‘name a better left sided combo in the Premier League’ than himself and Wilfried Zaha after Palace’s 5-0 win against Leicester City on Saturday, in which both players were on target.
But Collymore, the former Eagles and Leicester striker, has not taken well to the Dutchman’s post and told him to consider the bigger picture before making such comments.
He wrote: “Erm, OK then, Patrick, I’ll give you three (better combos) off the bat: Benjamin Mendy, when he’s fit, and Leroy Sane at Manchester City. Andy Robertson and whoever is playing on the left for Liverpool. And Marcos Alonso and Eden Hazard at Chelsea.

“Van Aanholt has done well, but he needs to have a look at where Palace have been for a lot of the season.
“And, if I was him, I wouldn’t be shouting anything from the rooftop of my own house with only my missus and kids in, let alone putting it on social media.”
Crystal Palace’s win moved them up four places to 11th with two games still to play – against the division’s bottom two clubs, Stoke City and West Bromwich Albion.

Roy Hodgson’s side are still not mathematically safe, however, with 18th-placed Southampton six points behind and a game in hand.
The Eagles were second bottom, without a point, when Hodgson succeeded Frank de Boer as manager in early September.
