Former Aston Villa striker Stan Collymore has written in The Mirror what he thinks Sam Allardyce told Ellis Short before he took the Sunderland managerial job.
Collymore believes that the former West Ham United boss must have told the Sunderland chairman that he wants full control over his transfer dealings.
The former Nottingham Forest star wrote in The Mirror: “You can bet your life Sam Allardyce told Sunderland owner Ellis Short: ‘These are my salary demands and this is what I want – complete control over everything. Give me the money to let me do my job and leave me to do it. I don’t want or need layers and layers of management’.”
Allardyce was appointed the Sunderland manager during the international break, and he has a tough task on hand.

Former Newcastle United and Bolton Wanderers boss Allardyce specialises in keeping struggling teams up, and Sunderland fans will hope that he does the same this campaign.
