Emre Can played a blinder as Liverpool beat Hertha Berlin on Saturday.

Stan Collymore believes Emre Can could be a “very special player” for Liverpool.

The 23-year-old midfielder was a force of nature in Liverpool’s win away to Hertha Berlin.

It was the Germany international’s first pre-season game of the summer due to his participation in the Confederations Cup, but there was little to no sign of rust as he posted a powerful performance in the German capital.

The former Bayern Munich ace has been steadily progressing at Liverpool under Jurgen Klopp over the past 18 months and he might well continue to improve next season.

That is certainly what former Reds striker Collymore thinks after seeing one of Can’s trademark runs through midfield.

Liverpool kick off the Premier League season with a trip to Watford on August 12, before hosting Crystal Palace and Arsenal in their two subsequent top-flight outings.
