The Tottenham Hotspur man is struggling for any kind of form this season.
Former footballer turned pundit Stan Collymore has taken to Twitter to have his say on Tottenham Hotspur striker Vincent Janssen, after the player failed to score in Spurs’ FA Cup third round clash against Aston Villa.
Janssen arrived at White Hart Lane in the summer after a blistering campaign for AZ Alkmaar saw him crowned the Eredivisie’s top scorer with 27 goals in 34 league matches. But this season he has struggled to get anywhere near his best form.
Janssen’s performance against Villa was indicative of his time in England to date, and he looked forlorn when he was substituted on the hour-mark, replaced by man of the moment Dele Alli.

Ultimately it was full-back Ben Davies and attacker Heung-min Son who proved to be the goal-scoring heroes, but Collymore was quick to compare their teammate Janssen to another player who struggled to bring his Eredivisie form to England.
Writing on Twitter on Sunday afternoon, Collymore said, “Janssen: file under Afonso Alves rather than RvN.”
The former Villa striker was of course referring to the differing fortunes of the former Middlesbrough forward and Manchester United’s legendary front-man Ruud van Nistelrooy, both of whom had previously excelled in the Netherlands.
Janssen is still young and he was always going to take time to settle, but with each passing match the critics will only sharpen their knives.
