Stan Collymore has strongly criticised Steve Bruce on Twitter tonight, as Newcastle United slumped to a defeat to Aston Villa at Villa Park.
Newcastle have suffered a 2-0 loss at the hands of Villa in the Premier League, with both the goals coming in the first half.
It was the Magpies’ fourth successive defeat in all competitions. Steve Bruce’s side have gone down to Leicester City, Arsenal (FA Cup), Sheffield United and Arsenal in January.
Former Villa striker Collymore was following the match, and he was very brutal in his assessment of Bruce and his management style.
Relegation battle
Newcastle did well under Bruce last season, but things are looking very bleak for them this time around.
The Magpies are now 16th in the Premier League table with 19 points from 19 matches, seven points above third-from-bottom Fulham, who have played 18 games.
Newcastle are now in a relegation battle, and the players will have to step up their game in the coming weeks and months.
The Magpies will return to action on Tuesday evening when they take on Leeds United at St. James’ Park in the Premier League.
